Lakeview School - Dist #28 - Logan Township
(also part of Dist #77 & 81)

District 28 was organized July 10, 1886, it disorganized January 5, 1946, to be joined with District #77, and later #81. In 1965, it became part of Unified District #225.

District #27, which was to the east of this district, combined with #28 early on... in 1899.

Lakeview always had a decent schoolhouse. We found where the first one was sold by sealed bid by the Board of Directors in 1916.

This schoolhouse served the district from 1916 to the end and was sold by public auction December 17, 1956, along with all the out buildings, furnishing, etc. The schoolhouse served a very tight-knit community for decades as a gathering place and community center. At this posting a group of ladies known as the "Lakeview Club" still get together on a regular basis... no doubt several of whom had parents that attended this school as children and whose roots run deep in  this unique part of Meade County.
This cut from the 1909 Plat Book shows the Lakeview School and the surrounding area.
This modern-day map shows the school and it's location in relation to Meade and Fowler

Surnames of students attending Lakeview School would have been: Allen, Beaver, Bishop, Boor, Bruce, Bussing, Casey, Clay, Cowan, Crawford, Cure, Dahm, Doerksen, Eaton, Fancher, Feldman, Fletcher,  Hageman, Hankla, Hartman, Hinderliter, Huslig, Ingram, Innis, Kiser, Krisle, Lauppe, Mahieu, Main, McCampbell, Mertens, Meyer, Miller, Nowell, Paden, Rader, Randolph, Richardson, Schwartz, Seyfert, Smith, Snyder, Steele, VanHoesen, Voigt, Warkentin, Weaver, Wenta, and Wilbert.
